These Japanese incense sticks are my favorite. They have a fine, thin bamboo stick in the middle. This creates an incredibly pleasant incense with very little smoke and a pure scent (not spicy like Indian incense sticks).

Scent: Sandalwood. Sandalwood is precious. The scent of sandalwood is reputed in the East to bring about a closer contact with the divine. It helps to calm the mind and sharpen the senses. In Buddhism, this scent is traditionally used to maintain attention during meditation and to increase spiritual energy. Sandalwood is one of the most popular ingredients in Japanese incense and is part of the Japanese tea ceremony and Zen meditation.
